1982-1986

Undergraduate:
University of Michigan
-Ann Arbor, MI-

Dr. Lewis completed his Bachelor of Science degree at University of Michigan in 1986.  He followed a pre-medical track with a concentration on psychiatry. It was his goal throughout his undergraduate career to apply to and matriculate into medical school.

1987-1991

Medical School:
Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
-East Lansing, MI-

Dr. Lewis completed his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. Osteopathic physicians (DOs) are focused on holistic healing of the patient. Like allopathic physicians (MDs), DOs are fully trained and licensed to practice medicine. MDs and DOs complete the same number of years and rigorous curriculum in medical school and train side by side in the same residency programs. Dr. Lewis strove to pursue a career in orthopedics.

1992-1996

Orthopedic Surgery Residency:
Garden City Hospital
-Garden City, MI-

Dr. Lewis' orthopedic surgery residency was completed in 1996.  After completing his internship at Beaumont Farmington Hills, Dr. Lewis continued his orthopedics education and completed residency at Garden City Hospital, a Michigan State University residency program. Internship is comprised of rotations in several specialties that provide a foundation in medicine built off of knowledge gained from medical school. Orthopedic surgery residency requires 4 years of training in addition to the internship year.

1996-1997

Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship:
Florida Orthopedic Institute 
-Tampa, FL-

Dr. Lewis trained at Florida Orthopedic Institute, completing a highly competitive fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine in 1997. It was important for Dr. Lewis to have a fantastic background in general orthopedics and subspecialize further in sports medicine to provide the best care possible to his patients. Dr. Lewis is passionate about providing conservative management and  minimally invasive alternatives to surgery for his patients.
