About Dr. Lewis
I was born and raised in Beverly Hills, Michigan. My educational journey began in Ann Arbor, where I completed my bachelors degree at the University of Michigan. I went on to receive my Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. I was ecstatic to learn that I matched into orthopedic surgery, and my training in orthopedics began. My internship year was completed at Beaumont Farmington Hills and completed my orthopedic residency training through Michigan State University at Garden City Hospital. My fellowship in sports medicine was completed at Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida, where I worked with the team physicians for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the University of South Florida.
I have been in practice for over 20 years and specialize in the treatment of sports-related and occupational injuries including ligamentous knee injuries, rotator cuff tears, and more. In addition to soft tissue reconstruction, I also perform shoulder, knee, and hip reconstructive surgery for advanced arthritic conditions. Further, I perform general orthopedics, including carpal tunnel nerve decompression, general hand surgery, and foot and ankle care. My orthopedics training has also included advanced trauma care through the Florida Orthopedic Institute and I continue to treat trauma patients through St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital.
Currently, I am head team physician for the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory school in Orchard Lake, Michigan. I have worked with professional athletes as team physician for the Detroit Rockers, as well as collegiate and high school athletes. I recently moved my practice, Oakland Orthopedic Institute, to Bay City, Michigan, where I hope to form a long lasting relationship with the community and the patients who reside there.
I have four children who all participate in various sports and academic activities. I have been involved with the kids coaching in their individual sports, including basketball, football, and lacrosse. We enjoy boating, fitness, and spending time as a family.
